First certified culinary cannabis facility in Canada is local to Vancouver

Infused dining has become very popular, especially this year. With reality shows having their cast members experience it or big streaming services such as Netflix having shows exploring it.

While infused dining restaurants aren’t yet open or legal in Vancouver, a company decided to bring that experience to the comfort of people’s own homes.

Farm and Florist is not only the first micro-processing and cannabis manufacturing facility approved by the City of Vancouver, but also the first culinary cannabis facility in Canada.

While you can’t walk into their facility and try food or drinks there, you can definitely use their services, whether to hire a chef that can cook using cannabis or following one of the many recipes they have online.

“We knew that we wanted to build something that was for consumers and for culinary people, and we needed to be noticed and recognized, so we worked very hard with the City of Vancouver,” said Connor McNamee, who is the co-founder of West Blvd Cannabis, the parent company of the Farm and Florist brand.

“Our facility also includes a tasting room. We have a kitchen on-site, so we could create content, try recipes and different flavours, and simultaneously provide ongoing education,” McNamee explained.

While some people buy oil and tinctures to use in their own baking or to add to snacks like popcorn, many end up disliking them because they still have some taste or smell. Many people who consume cannabis for the first time, especially if they use it in baking, such as cupcakes, find the smell and taste of cannabis unpleasant.

The oils produced by them are odourless and tasteless, so people have the full effect while not sacrificing the taste of food or any ingredients not being used in recipes.

Since many people don’t want to smoke cannabis and cooking with it isn’t very easy, especially for a first-timer, these products are an easy introduction to CBD or THC, at least until it’s legal to try it at a restaurant as part of a dining experience.

“Our goal is to have our products in all of the major hotels and high-end restaurants so that people can experience infused dining in an elegant and sophisticated way,” McNamee said.
